Holland Select Board Tables Warrant Articles, Backs Lake Committee Independence

HOLLAND — March 5, 2019 — Holland Select Board tables town meeting warrant articles and backs Lake Oversight Committee independence. Meeting Tuesday, the three-member board voted unanimously to postpone review of the full warrant until its next session, citing unresolved articles and the absence of a key member. The board also voted to support a proposed warrant article that would strike the bylaw language designating the Lake Oversight Committee as an advisory board to the Select Board — removing the reporting requirement and effectively making the committee a standalone body consistent with the Planning Board and Conservation Commission. A Lake Oversight Committee member presented the draft change, rooted in Article 27 from two years prior, explaining it removes one paragraph from bylaw chapter 2 and renumbers the remaining sections. Members also flagged that a contracted dredging feasibility study, due in September 2018, remains undelivered, with the board planning a joint session with the Lake Oversight Committee to compile outstanding questions for the engineering firm. The board adjourned into executive session to discuss real estate matters under reason six.
