Holland Select Board Appoints New Town Administrator, Chair Resigns at August Meeting

HOLLAND — August 21, 2018 — Holland Select Board chair resigns and appoints Janine Drake as the town's new town administrator effective August 23. The board voted unanimously to appoint Drake, whose title represents a formal upgrade from the prior executive secretary designation, a change members said was intended to attract a higher-caliber professional to the role. The board also received a dam inspection report on the Hamilton Reservoir Dam from Lenon Engineering classifying the structure as a large, high-hazard facility in fair condition, with an opinion of probable repair costs totaling more than $620,000, including $600,000 for concrete resurfacing alone. Members voted to post the report publicly on the town website. In a lengthy discussion, representatives of the Lake Oversight Committee told the board the committee was effectively stalled — a missing secretary had taken the minutes, board representatives had stopped attending, and years of recommendations had gone unaddressed — with members asking the Select Board directly whether the committee should continue to exist at all.
